Salem Girls basketball vs Greenfield

On Friday, the Salem girls played their last regular season game against Salem Greenfield. We were missing two of our taller players, which did not help against the height of our opponent. Greenfield came out strong, picking off our passes with their long wingspan. The Saints picked things up in the second half by boxing out, playing tough defense, and running the plays well. Emilie had a nice 3 point shot, and Sophie worked hard driving to the basket and boxing out on the defensive end. I was proud of our girls for getting to the free throw line, since their fear of contact is something we have been working on all season.

The girl’s next game is our conference tournament on Friday, February 9th at Bloomington Kennedy. We look forward to moving into our tournament season and ending the year on a high note. I say this every week, but I am incredibly proud of the entire team for how much they have improved this season. We have spent several practices working on fundamentals and learning the rules of the game, and I think the Salem girls hard work has shown as the season has progressed.
