September Message from the Principal

Built on the Rock

My wife Jessica and I like to watch House Hunters on Saturday mornings. It is fun to see all of the different layouts and upgrades in each house. You get to see people’s likes and dislikes and either agree or disagree with them. The one thing everyone can agree on when buying a house is that the foundation needs to be strong. It is a costly item to repair and is the most important part of the house even though you cannot see it.

Our theme for this school year is “Built on the Rock”. It comes from Matthew 7:24, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” A rock is nice and strong but it can definitely be shaken. In our life we will be shaken by the Devil in our various callings as teachers, students, husbands, wives, coworkers, and many others.

A shaken foundation is a problem, but even worse than a foundation being shaken is a cracked foundation. A house or our faith cannot stand o…

SCHOOL NEWS

Following is a little about the new staff members at Salem:

Ryan Klatt (New Principal)
I was born and raised in New Hope, MN with my older sister, Megan, and younger brother, Caleb. My dad is a Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church and School and my mother teaches Preschool there as well. My wife and I have purchased a house on Owens St. N in Stillwater and are settled for the most part. Our dog, Cooper, is still adjusting to living in a new home, but he is managing. I like to play sports and watch Netflix in my free time, but I am most excited to get into biking with all of the wonderful trails around Stillwater.

I am very excited to start teaching at Salem. Teaching is one of my favorite things to do. I love interacting with the students and joking around with them. I also am excited to work with the parents and teachers as we partner to help their children grow academically, emotionally, but most importantly spiritually. It is a great honor and privilege to be able to share …

SPTO NEWS

ATTENTION ALL SALEM FAMILIES!

SPTO is beginning a new mentoring program-"SALEM CONNECTIONS"- to welcome our new families to the school.  We need families who currently have students at Salem and we will link you with a new family.  The goal is to have the experienced families introduce themselves and be available for questions as they arise.  Invite the new family to chapel/church and school events so you are a familiar face to them.  Simple!  Easy!  Fun!  Please consider being a part of this new venture!  We are hoping this will strengthen and enlarge our Salem Family. Please see MacKenzie Hanson 651-815-1773 or Julie Ross 763-234-5759.

SPTO Meeting dates have been added to the school calendar for the year. They will be held on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 6:30 pm except in October which will instead be held on the 25th. There will be no meeting in December. Please contact Bonnie Richter if you have any questions on the group or the schedule for the meetings (spto.pre…

God's blessings on your weekend!
Hello Salem Parents,

I pray you are all ready and excited to start a new school year. The faculty and staff of Salem have been working hard preparing for the return of your children. We are excited to have them back and partner with you to educate them academically, emotionally, and spiritually.

A few reminders as we start the school year, please plan to attend our opening chapel service on Monday, August 27th at 9:30am. It will be a great opportunity for you to worship our Lord and Savior with your child. I will also be giving announcements after the service.

Before Care runs from 7am-8:30am and after care is from 3:45-5pm. If you have questions about before or after care, please contact the school office for more information.

Girls Volleyball

Girls Volleyball

I am happy to  let you know that third grade girls are invited to play volleyball at Salem Lutheran this fall.  The first practice will be on September 5th  from 3:45pm-5:15pm..  All practices will continue on Monday's and Wednesday's.  The games will be on some Tuesday's and Thursday's at 4pm.  The season ends by October 1st.  The sport fee is $15.00.  Also if there are any more 4th-6th grade girls that would still like to sign up please do soon.

There wasn't a strong interest in 7th and 8th grade to play volleyball. So we will have a B team consisting of 3rd-6th grade girls.  If you want to play let Mrs. Hansen  or Mrs. Klatt  know ASAP, thank you.  We can then provide you with more information at that time.

TADS can also be set up to automatically withdraw from your checking, savings, or credit card if you have tuition set up to do the same. Stop into the school office for more information or email school.office@salemlutheran.org.

This year we will be using TADS Educate to allow you to check your lunch balance. We will be sending out more information on how to log into this as the school year begins and we have everything in place to get this information accessible to you. This will be a great resource for you this year for lunch as well as for other school information. We will keep you posted as we work to get this ready.
