First Quarter K-8 Parent-Teacher Conferences—Oct 8,10, & 14

Image
We're scheduling conferences to be held on Tuesday, October 8, Thursday, October 10, and Monday, October 14 for all K-8 students. Parent-teacher conferences offer an opportunity for parents/caregivers and teachers to speak with each other about issues affecting their children, like student achievement, work habits, and progress. Parents/caregivers can help make this a productive time by bringing questions, concerns, or suggestions to the meeting. We recommend that both parents/caregivers attend the conference if possible. Our first quarter ends on Friday, October 25. Report cards for all students will be sent home on Wednesday, October 30. Each of these conferences will be 15 minutes in length. Should more time be needed, please make other arrangements with the teacher. Conferences for students in kindergarten through fourth grade will be conducted in the student's homeroom and should be scheduled below. Please click the button to sign up. Thank you! Late Assignments in Middle School

Image
As you may remember from our Middle School-Meet the Teacher Management Plan : All homework is expected to be properly completed on the due date and in the room at the beginning of class time. If the assignment is not completed on time, the student must fill out a digital late homework form. This form will be automatically emailed to parents/caregivers.  Work not completed on time will be counted and used to determine the student’s Work Habits grade. The Work Habits grade will affect eligibility for extracurricular activities, but will not affect the student's overall GPA. The Work Habits grade will be listed on the student’s report card and final transcripts.  Zero late work slips for the entire quarter will be an A+. Every late assignment will drop this grade one level. 1=A, 2=A-, 3=B+  etc. If work is consistently late, the parents will be contacted and the student may be asked to stay after school. Additional parent, teacher, and student meetings may be needed. For t

Here's an update from Costa Maya Ministries, where our 1st semester mission offerings will go! September 2019 Your Encouragement Makes a Difference It is good to be encouraged by fellow believers near and far. Angela, a local Mexican woman, provides one example. She has been attending Cruz de Cristo for about a year and a half.  She is a model of an active faith that has struggles but keeps seeking the Lord. This month she shares a bit about herself and expresses her gratitude to Pastor Vallesky and Costa Maya Ministries for the support they have provided in her life. Angela is originally from Veracruz, Mexico. Like many others, she came to Mahahual about 3 years ago to find work in the restaurant/tourism industry because earning a living can be a difficult task in much of Mexico. Her journey in Mahahual led her to open a food shack on the grounds of our future church building (groundbreaking coming in the near future!).  She named her shop “Saulo,” which means Saul. An
