September Message from the Principal

Built on the Rock

My wife Jessica and I like to watch House Hunters on Saturday mornings. It is fun to see all of the different layouts and upgrades in each house. You get to see people’s likes and dislikes and either agree or disagree with them. The one thing everyone can agree on when buying a house is that the foundation needs to be strong. It is a costly item to repair and is the most important part of the house even though you cannot see it.

Our theme for this school year is “Built on the Rock”. It comes from Matthew 7:24, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” A rock is nice and strong but it can definitely be shaken. In our life we will be shaken by the Devil in our various callings as teachers, students, husbands, wives, coworkers, and many others.

A shaken foundation is a problem, but even worse than a foundation being shaken is a cracked foundation. A house or our faith cannot stand on a cracked or broken foundation. The Devil will try to crack our foundation in various ways that are targeted to you. He knows if you have a bad temper, a tendency to gossip about others, or just to let little things drive us apart of being a Christian family.

Luckily God gives us the cure to keep our foundation strong. He gives us His Word. Through His Word, we see how Jesus came and died to take away all of our sin. We no longer need to worry about little cracks. We can trust in our Savior and our fellow Christians to help us through our problems. Through prayer, we know our God will hear us and answer us with our troubles. We also have each other. We can lean on each other to help us through our problems and point us in the right direction.

During this school year, don’t let the devil drive our family apart. We have the best news of all that Jesus came and took away our sins. This allows us to work through the problems that will arise together and with the understanding that we are all living in the same “house” on our rock of faith. We will all fall short this school year, but thanks be to God that through him we have the hope and promise of Heaven through His sacrifice.
