November School News
Veterans Day
Salem is having a program to honor the veterans that the students at Salem know on November 11th at 2:45 pm. The students will sing patriotic songs, read some poems about our veterans, and thank them for their service. All veterans, their families, and families of Salem are welcome to attend. The students will also be filling out sheets with their veteran’s picture, the branch of service and wars they fought in. We will then use those sheets to make a Wall of Fame where we will hang all of them.
Confirmation Examination 1
The 8th graders at Salem have the opportunity to share what they are learning about their faith in Confirmation class with the congregation on November 17th. They will be answering questions at the 8 o’clock service in place of the sermon. Please make plans to attend to grow in your faith and to support these young men and women as they continue to grow closer with their Lord and Savior.
8th Grade Class Trip Fundraiser
The 8th graders at Salem are selling Butter Braids to raise money for their spring class trip. Order forms are available in the school office or contact any 8th-grade student to place your order. The Butter Braids will arrive on November 18 just in time for the holiday season ahead. Order before November 4.
Basketball Games Begin
The Saints will be back on the court starting November 8th. Our season opener is against Christ Lutheran. The teams have been practicing for a couple of weeks, and we are excited to see how they do in a game setting. Feel free to come to cheer them on on the 8th and if you would like a calendar of their games you can find one in the school office. PLEASE HELP! We will be collecting concession items from anyone who would like to purchase these. This will help our athletic fund with extra expenses that occur from having many home games this year. A display board is in the school entrance with items you can purchase for us. Pull a picture from the board and bring the item to the school office by November 6. Thanks for your help!!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Thank you to all of the families who stopped in and visited their teachers. We love working with you to help your children continue to succeed at Salem. Please continue to keep the lines of communication open, and we are happy to continue serving your family here at school.

There will be no school on November 27-29 for Thanksgiving Break.

Grade 3 & 4 Pop Tab Collection
Mrs. Hasselquist and her class are supporting The Ronald McDonald House by participating in the Pop Tab program. Her classroom has been part of this program for around 15 years and they have collected over 200 lbs of pop tabs. The cash received from these go directly to support the Ronald McDonald House. There is a collection bin in the classroom and at the church and school entrances. What a great way to help others!
We Are Also Collecting Box-tops for Education and aluminum cans. Please remember to check the date on the Boxtops for Education as they do expire. Watch for more information on the new digital Box Top program coming soon! Labels can be placed in the bin at the school door entrance. Aluminum cans benefit our athletic program and can be bagged up and placed in the wooden bin that is next to the garage on our property.
SCRIP
Have you checked out the ShopWithSCRIP.com website? You can now order your own SCRIP any time, anywhere you need it. You can also now order with your credit card! All you have to do is login and sign up! If you have students at Salem, the rebates earned can be applied to your child’s tuition - some families have earned over $400 just by using gift cards to pay for your purchases. There will be a flat 5% fee on all orders. This will cover the shipping and administrative fees involved in the orders. For example, if you earn $5.00 from your order, Salem will keep $.25 to cover any costs. You can also apply your profits to your child's lunch account as well as tuition. We have also added an option to direct your profits to the church. Contact the church office for more information.
Prayer
One way we usually forget about how we can help our school and church is to pray for them throughout the year. Your prayers are always a blessing and it is great to know that you are asking God for his blessings on our school year.
