Saints Lose Round Two in Eagles' Nest

In the tenth game of the TCLGSAL season, our Saints made our second trip to Shakopee in ten days to take on Bloomington’s top squad. Due to sickness, injury, and travel, three key players from the Saints were unable to make it to the game on Friday. We knew that this was going to be one of the most challenging games of the entire basketball season, regardless of the circumstances.
From the opening tip until the final buzzer resonated throughout the Eagles’ Nest, the high energy and effort level of our Saints never wavered. Assistant coach Neal Anderson and I were very pleased with the way our kids went about their business, focusing only on the aspects of the game they could control. Even though we could not help the circumstances or the opponent, our Saints that were present at the game used this opportunity to make the most out of their extended playing time. While it was a predictably difficult night of basketball (final score: 8-43), the highlight of the night was seventh grader Alexis’s (2 points) beautiful pull-up bank shot over the tall Bloomington post players.
All in all, this was one of those games that you want to file away and move on to the next one. It is my hope and prayer that we get healed up and back to full strength for next Friday’s Parents’ Night game against the undefeated Cougars from Cross of Christ!
