Salem Volleyball News

Image
This past Sunday, the Salem B-girls volleyball team had the opportunity to play in a tournament at West Lutheran High School. They started out the tournament with a strong showing in the pool play, winning every one of their games and only losing one match during those wins. Our fourth graders, Ellie and Kayden, both had phenomenal serves and scored several points for the team. The girls were working hard and in what was, for many of them, their first volleyball tournament. The Saints were given the #1 seed in their pool and received a bye in the championship bracket. Our first game during the bracket play was against King of Grace and it was a close match. The Saints lost the first match by a close margin but managed to pull off a win in the second. The third match was still close but King of Grace ended up winning by just a few points. This placed us in the fight for third place. Our opponents, Holy Trinity, had a great team but we had girls that were not going to give up. We had gre...

Issue with Posting Grades on Headmaster

Parents, we recently discovered an issue with Headmaster. Grades had not updated for several days on the parent portal, even though our teachers were faithfully entering them. No data was lost—there was simply an issue with an automated upload from our Headmaster server. We have a temporary manual workaround that has resolved the issue until a permanent resolution is in place. As of Wednesday afternoon, when you log in, you are viewing the most current grades. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused. If you notice something like this in the future or have any other issue, please feel free to contact Mr. Scharf (bscharf@salemlutheran.org). Thank you.

First Soccer game recap

It was a hot, humid September afternoon when Salem’s volleyball and soccer teams traveled to West St. Paul for their season debuts. The soccer team experienced exciting success, despite sweating up a “storm.”  Griffin's determination and drive resulted in the first two goals of the game. As play continued, Avery could be seen dribbling around the defenders from Crown of Life and punching in Salem’s third goal. After several opportunities, Noah found his way around the goalie to score the fourth goal, and it was time for the halftime break. Reese and Houghton played a strong defensive game. Crown of Life came out strong in the second half and tested goalie Tyler. He passed the test and prevented Crown of Life from scoring...the whole game!  Congratulations on the shutout, Tyler!  Lars sealed the 5 - 0 win for the Saints with the only goal of the second half. The heat and humidity exhausted the players, and the game pace slowed as the clock wound down…

Drop-off/Pick-up Procedures

Salem Lutheran is a busy and active place with many people coming and going each day. With your careful help, we would like to keep the safety of our children a top priority. Here are some procedures we ask your help with throughout the school year for drop-off and pick-up here at Salem. Before School Drop-off The driveway in front of the school is intended for bus and car drop-off. The parking lots should be used for cars that will be parked for any length of time, whether attended or unattended. Please do not PARK in the driveway in front of the school. If you think it may take some time and assistance to exit the vehicle, please park and walk in with your children. Please be mindful of the buses that will be dropping off children in the morning so you do not block their access to the driveway. The upper driveway in front of the church doors is available for parking to walk preschoolers into the building in the AM only . After School Pick-up The K-8 children will be escorted...
