Getting Ready for 2018-2019

The first item to tell you is we are excited to start using a company called TADS to help manage our student information and to help you manage your tuition costs. We previously used to TADS to evaluate financial assistance needs but we will now also use them for storing information, lunch, and tuition billing. In order to do so, you will soon be contacted by TADS via email to allow you to set up your enrollment for next year. Please complete this enrollment for each child you will have at Salem as soon as you receive it so we can finalize and confirm all information is accurate for next year! You should be receiving this within the week. When you enter your enrollment in TADS, having your contact information as well as these items below on hand will make the process much easier for you:
  • At least two emergency contacts for your student with their phone numbers. Preschool families should have at least two pick up people as well and have a phone and address for each. If you do not have family in the area consider a friend or neighbor and have their information on hand to fill in.
  • Please note any health issues we should be aware of for your child and list them. We are replacing many of the forms families filled out at the beginning of the year with this enrollment application. You will be asked many of those questions now and it will reduce the registration paperwork! Yay!!
  • For Preschool, Kindergarten and 7th-grade students, immunization records should be sent to the school before the first day of school which is on August 27. Our fax # is 651-439-0035 if you would like your clinic to send them directly to us.
After you complete the TADS enrollment, I will then send you the tuition agreement as the final step to assure that your child is enrolled. We need to complete both of these steps as early as possible to assure our staffing needs are met and that we all can be ready for the school year to begin on Monday, August 27. TADS has a great support line (800-477-8237). If you should get confused or have questions along the way in filling out the enrollment or the tuition portion don't hesitate to call them. All children must be enrolled and can be added to the TADS enrollment screen as an additional enrollment within the same account and password. Please make sure to enroll all of your students. You do not need a separate TADS account and password for each student. You can enroll them all in your same account.

Please make sure you are subscribed to our Salem News Blog! Instructions are included at the end of this email. Once you are subscribed, you will be kept up to date on all of the activities leading up to the new school year, supply lists, and any other information that you will need before the year begins. Please also make sure to note these important dates on your calendar:

PK-8 Families - Wednesday, August 15, 4:00-8:00 PM - Visit the Teacher Night
This is the night to learn what you need to know before the preschool year begins. Supplies, snacks, procedures, what to expect, are just some of the topics covered to get you and your child ready for this exciting year. There are two sessions starting at  4:00 pm and 6:00 pm.

PK-8 Families - Monday, August 20, 5:30-7:00 PM - Welcome Day
Preschool families will see their child's classroom for the first time. Parents and students should come to school to drop off supplies, verify tuition payment, set-up their lunch account, find their desks, and drop off any unfinished paperwork for the school office.

Monday, August 27 - First day of the school year  - School Day 9:15 am - 3:40 pm. Children can be dropped off as early as 8:30 am. Before and after school care is available. Forms will be available on Visit the Teacher Night for you to sign up for this in advance.

Other dates for the year can be seen in our Academic Calendar or by checking our Parent Portal on our school website (the left-hand side of this screen has a quick link to our Google Calendar for events for the year).

I am looking forward to working with you as we begin getting ready for the 2018-2019 school year!

Blessings,

Diane Light
