Round 2 of MLC Meet Math Competition

Image
Our middle school students recently finished the second round of the Martin Luther College Meet Math competition. Students worked on six competition level math problems. You can see our school and individual student results and rankings by visiting https://meetmath.mlc-wels.edu/results/view . Our Salem fifth and sixth-grade students are in the B-3 category, and our seventh and eighth-grade students are in the A-5 category. Categories are determined by school size. Other test dates this school year are the weeks of  January 11 and February 22. Meet Math is a service club at Martin Luther College that provides mathematics contests for students in grades 5-12 who are enrolled in WELS or ELS schools. This club also maintains school and individual statistics that are the basis for various awards presented at the end of the school year. Positive COVID Case

We were notified by a family of a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19  in a member of the Salem community with  the exposure date of Wednesday, November 4th. For privacy reasons, we cannot share  details about the  status of this person. At this time, they have been  advised to stay home and away from other people (isolate). A message will be sent via ClassDojo to notify the class who had  close contact with the person who has  COVID-19. The risk of  exposure for other people present in the building on that date is  no greater than the risk  of contracting the virus in the general  community. If you or your child were not notified that you had close contact  with the person, you should still monitor for  symptoms of illness,  but do not need to stay home unless symptoms develop. If  symptoms...

Another update from our One Africa Mission Project

Friends of Africa, Friends of Christ Read the most recent post from the WELS Friends of Africa blog The Holy Spirit was Busy this Weekend Nov 04, 2020 02:47 am |  shepherdroebke@gmail.com L-R: Malawians Arnold and Joseph have made a double connection with the Lutheran Church through TELL My wife and I are reading through the gospels in our devotions these days and marveling again at the miracles of our Savior. I think I just experienced one this past Friday morning. Let me back up, just a bit.  I am a missionary with the One Africa Team, currently helping out with the Multi-Language Productions program called TELL ( tellnetwork.org ).  As they are reaching people with their Bible studies in West Africa via Facebook, the TELL organizers received a few questions that I was able to answer for them. West Africa is an area where I have lived and worked.  I’m happy to be involved with TELL, working mostly with Pastor Dan Laitinen who coordinates the online materials...

Charges for Snack Milk and Extra Milk

Dear Salem Families, We were informed that the grant program for free lunches that we recently were accepted for does not include extra milk and snack milks. It does include the one milk that is given with the free hot lunch. Kindergarten students will also still be allowed an additional free milk each day under the Kindergarten Free Milk Program that we subscribe to. Because of this, we will need to resume charging .40 per milk that is ordered by our students beyond the free milk received with an entree. So sorry for this news and hope that you are enjoying the benefits of our lunch program with fresh meals made at our school. Charges for additional milks will begin tomorrow, Oct. 30 and remain until the end of the school year. Thank you so much for your understanding! Please contact the school office if you have questions. school.office@salemlutheran.org
